I dont get the point of the different packs, you say you start with the pack you "won".

Why cant all subbed players start with a premium pack, basically you mugged lv 250 players of their gear and they stand to "win" a "Basic" pack.

Maybe I'm missing something or can someone explain the point of the three tiers of starter packs please.

basic = the basic necessities and you retain your look + name (subscribed P2P and F2P event participants - in short all ACTIVE accounts)
silver = better items for winners of events - they really won
premium = best items for P2P loosing their skills (retain your skills or get some uber awesome unique items - you decide)

Interesting comments, Tyk. I too get the perception that all too many people miss out on a lot of low-level fun because they advance too quickly or accept too much help from the vets. With the new server, though, I imagine that the vets won't be showering newcomers with supreme gear and cats to the extent that they were in the past! However, well-meaning vets will probably continue to "help" newcomers by trekking them to the capitols (which is ok as long as the new players are made aware of how much fun they are missing out on if they go along. I think it's tragic that so many players miss out on the heart-pounding thrill ride of solo-trekking the capitols and spawns as a low-level!).

It would be interesting if someone like you would write a guide to playing the way you envision. Perhaps some players can be inspired to follow your lead...

I had almost forgotten about Ryzom and I got an e-mail letting me know what is going on. It has been a very long time since I've played Ryzom but I'm thinking of subbing to save the progress I made on my toons.

I have seen it asked but have not seen an answer yet. Does anyone know if we will keep our titles and preorder items(shield)?

I wish they would let us keep a few items on our toons; I have a few rare items I would like to keep like event items and my little yubo plushie. :)

Welcome back Neva, a CSR said in Uni last night that you will not keep the preorder shields, titles that are kept are the Elder of Atys ones, and only that other than that they are gone.

I saw the notice of a reboot and re-subbed after several years away.

I find I still have an apartment and meks full of stuff !

What I gather is I should be using up my cats and collected mats since they are going away anyway - and trying to get involved with events. I hope it is obvious when an event is happening so I don't miss them.

Any other suggestions what I should be doing pre-merge ?

BTW I'm looking forward to restarting a character on the 'List of the Reckless'

+1 Great news! Its sad that its got to be done, but better server populations will be welcome. I'm very happy they are letting us keep apt furnishings. sad to loose my titles.

Its awesome they are changing dig nodes and mobs. We'll see about the dappers. I am wondering if they are planning to treat Atys as a restart though in terms of story lines, etc. Are they throwing out the First and Second Episodes? Just to do them all over again?

I still think they should do a kitin invasion or gibbai zombie attack to help with the story.

While I do not think it is intentional, a trend seems to be taking place that is rather alarming.

I do not think anyone wants this to happen, neither WG, CSR, nor any player.

That said:

While the issue of genocide has been averted, the issue of fratricide--competing for survival (against your fellow Homins in fact) has not.

Since there is no Very-Basic Starter Pack, or Refugee Starter Pack, to simply retain one's online identity, it would seem that F2Pers are now being forced to compete for survival in terms of Starter Packs.

The way this is playing out is not good, whether in terms of F2P retention, or general community wellbeing...

There needs to be a better solution for simply preserving our online identities.

This would not be a difficult fix, and would require little effort on the part of any csr or dev. Provide a mechanism (ticket, Temp Fix etc.) to allow us to verify that we want to retain this character.

Afterwards, I'm sure the starter pack games will have a much better tone to them.
