Hi, I'd like to find out a couple of things about the up-coming server merge and character reset.

First question: Will players with an "Elder of Atys" title lose their title?

Second question: Are player names going to be reserved on the new server? I have read that they won't be, but I'd just like for this to be clarified. This ties in with my first question about the Elder of Atys title.

Third question: At what stage in the Storyline will the new server be starting at?

Fourth question: Some players are reporting that "Starter Packs" will be distributed to all subscribed accounts. However the announcement seems to suggest Starter Packs will be won in various competitions and events leading up to the reset. Can someone actually clarify what will occur when the reset happens?

I'm sure there are a lot of other questions people might have, and I'd like to ask for a CSR or Dev to consider addressing the community's concerns about some of the various issues that will come with a full character reset.

You can gain a basic starter pack by attending any event hosted before the closing of the server. A CSR has to give it to you so you have to attend. The basic starter pack includes the reservation of your character name and you keep your character appearance. It also includes a few other things that were not really specified.

Competition in the events is for further packs. Premium packs would include other things to help you in the long run on the new server. Like winning the world race will give you a Q200 NPC medium armor set. I assume there are other things to come about soon.

According to Tamarea (Aniro's Senior Event Manager), a huge kitin invasion (New Great Swarming) will make all homins either die or flee from the New Lands to some kind of hideout. After years of hiding, the survivors will lose most of their skills. Then in 2570 they will finaly find their way back to Silan and the Continent. Loads of kitins will still remain on the Continent, so the Homins will have to fight to free each region, and rebuild their civilisation.

Players will be able to buy guild halls and apartments in any city and the villages will be dedicated to communities (French, German, etc.) with their own local politics. The Capitals will mix all communities and will be the places to find merchants selling Ql 250 items or mats.

The leaders who died on a shard will be dead for everyone. There will be new elections for the tryker governor, as this is not the same person on different shards.

Bah, spoiler***

Not a spoiler, it's just the missing part that people need to update their roleplay after the merge.
This part of the story will not be played as it will occur during the shards downtime.
(why SEM would have told this to everyone anyway...)

After years of hiding, the survivors will lose most of their skills. Then in 2570 they will finally find their way back to Silan and the Continent.

I realize the devs are scrambling to extend the story line in a credible way, but it is currently 2562. We wouldn't naturally lose skills acquired over the past 40 yrs (game time) of our lives in a mere 8 yrs. Sure we might be a bit rusty and lose 10% or something, but not all.

Perhaps they should introduce some effect (magical perhaps) to explain skill loss. Something like, "A bankrupt group of weary space travellers from the planet Capricious, happen upon Atys. They might be broke but they wield tremendous technologies. They demand huge tribute from the homins of Atys. Despite threats of annihilation, the homins refuse to pay. In retribution, the god-like travellers blast the ancient tree with a massive amnesia ray before returning to the depths of space." ~tongue in cheek~

I can answer a few of the questions asked...

As far as I am Aware "Elder of Atys" title will follow the account and is not character bound.

Events over the next few weeks will allow all players (including f2p) the opportunity to win a "starter" or a "winner" reward pack all of which reserve the "Account" Character names.

Players who have subscribed accounts at 22nd September will automatically be allocated a starter pack on the reopening of the merged server.

Then why has this not been officially announced on all servers??

Why all the f***ing secrecy??!!

Thanks for the info Kalean. At least it's good to know they do have some story continuity plans. I agree the whole "homins forgot how to use their skills" is kinda silly, but the rest sounds interesting. If this works out, the minor civ towns would finally have a purpose at least. And homins developing different dialects while in hideout could help explain the language differences after the merge.

I agree with Bittty, I wish someone would have officially announced this on all servers, it makes a big difference to those of us who worry about story continuity and RP.

This is actually why Gorran won't be returning, he dies in battle. He is not childless and so his legacy will continue though. It's quite believable that children would not have the skills of their parents.
