After reading the news of the reset and also reading that the game has been free-to-play for some time now I decided to return, download the client and get all set up only to find that my account isn't allowed to play. Why? No reason really. Seems a lack of thought and effort on the devs to allow old players to return it seems.

Same thing appears to be happening with the character wipe, a lack of effort and thought. My guess is there's alot of data they now consider redundant from ex-players which they don't want to convert or work on to be able to put all the characters on the same server. They figure if they start from scratch, it's less database work for whoever's left. They have a seemingly legitimate reason to clean out the databases and start from scratch. Badly forgetting the reason the game still exists, the players.

It seems a shame as Ryzom used to be one of those games from my past I would always remember for it's uniqueness. I just wish I could come in and see the last days with my old character that I spent many days with.

Thanks for restating facts I already know. But that doesn't give a reason WHY I can't play in the server. Just seems to be laziness, they new devs don't care. What happened to the game while I was away?

I had the same problem with existing accounts I created through the years. Eventually, I decided to create a new account. However, I read somewhere that the CSR team might be able to assist in getting access to accounts through the "chat thing" - CeB or what it's called.
