Hi there.

I have started playing Ryzom 30 mins ago. Started as a mage but I can't kill those flying monsters in the noob area.

I followed every tutorial and every tip I could find in game and forums, but even that, I can't kill them.

If I Root+Acid they reach me after the 1st acid is out, then I'm death meat.
If I Root+Acid+Fear, after the fear effect end they run towards me as lightning I can't root again.

Knowing that they kill me in 3 or 4 hits, i guess if it's possible to kill them, and also knowing that there is no people at all to party with.

So seriously: is that a quest to fool new players or what because I like this game but such kind of things made me to quit this kind of games.

Thanks

The quest is completely possible. Have you tried not using root at all? Just using acid would give you a better chance at killing them before they get to you and using a better level acid would also help perhaps if you arent already.

I'm not sure which flying monsters you are talking about, there are a few but if its javings what I suggested above should work. If you are talking about kipestas you might want to use cold spells.

Afflictions (root and fear) are mostly used for team leveling. They introduce it to you there though so you know what they are and can learn how to use them even if they may not be the best for the mission. It's not necessary to use them.

Also, get as far away from the javings (assuming that's your target) as you can before using Acid on them. Just throw Acid as fast as you can from distance.

As the previous posters have said:
1: make sure you have the highest lvl acid you can
2: equip magic amplifiers (with a quality level of at least the same level as your spell, right click->info on the spell to find out)
3: stand as far away as you can
4: nuke away

Mostly, this will kill them, but sometimes they will get you.
If you are still having problems, find someone to team with. One of you do damage with elemental or melee, and the other heals, or uses afflictions if you prefer that. Ryzom is a very team oriented game, even on silan.

The other option is to level your melee a little this allows you to spend your skill points on both health and health regen. In Ryzom their are no set classes such as mage or warrior just mix and match a little :)

Its worth looking at the speed you can cast the acid spell, as well as your max distance. I found it difficult to kill Javings at first (doing that same mission). I amended my acid spell to give max distance (50 meters) with no time penalty. Even if this means a weaker spell you should be able to hit them 3-4 times before they come close enough to hit you back. Then build up the damage part of the spell as you level up and you will be able to kill them before they can even reach you.

It's bad luck to be superstitious . . .
