Tribal missions. Find a tribe of the faction you want to raise and start doing their missions, especially their ambassador missions.

Yes it will though only slightly mainly raising tribe fame. But every Karavan aligned tribe has a Karavan ambassador who also gives missions. Those are Karavan fame missions no less than those at the Karavan porters.

-60 isn't that bad and the rate of rteurn on your actions should improve as it gets lower and lower. However, if you have say -97 to -100 you are in for an ordeal. Have 3 friends who returned to game after many years and tried to spike their interest by swithcing factions. After 3 weeks of effort, several hours per day, every day, with friends helping, they were barely able to budge fame doing aligned tribe faction missions. All 3 got frustarted and quit.

All got that hi negative fame helping guildies groing faction fame killing aligned tribes. So if ya wanna leave that option opoen, would suggest that ya be careful getting - fame much above -50 and certainly no wher enear 90's.

I spot me a common misunderstanding that must be fought!

Karavan Ambassadors give fame no different from Tribe Welcomers: Mostly tribe fame and only veeeery little Karavan fame. The only way to get decent Karavan fame is to do missions for Karavan Welcomers.

Yeahhh, no wonder if all they were doing were TRIBE missions which only give veeeery little Karavan fame >_>

So 3 people quit the game already because of this misinformation going around? That makes me sad :(

Had they just done Karavan Welcomer missions, it wouldn't have been nearly so bad.

Gotta read all the words in all of the sentences.

They were trying to reduce negative kami fame, not increase kara fame..... How do you decrease kami negavtive fame by doing kara welcomer missions ? Wouldn't one want to do kami missions to get rid off kami negative fame ? But how do you get near kami when you have -100 kami fame ????

What they were doing was at specific direction of Mokoi BTW, after resetting each toon, was helping us during the whole time.

Oh my, four question marks, this must be a hard question! Hmmwait, no it's not, you just walk up to a Kami Welcomer. There's no fame requirements on their missions and most of them don't have any guards standing around.

"Reduce negative fame"...? You mean... "increase fame"? No wonder the poor guys didn't get anywhere if they weren't even sure which way they wanted their fame to go.

Let's see those words... "faction", "faction", "faction"... nope, no mention of which faction! What a pity that mentally replacing my example faction with the faction of your choice requires mental faculties.

Sure enough, 100 Kami fame and -52 Karavan. Went to Yrkanis and was able to take the Karavan Welcomer missions no problem. I had no idea. Of course, I immediately abandoned it. :D

Gor:

I got involved at the tail end.....they were at it for quite some time and tried various methods ...... tried advancing fame w/ welcomers, tried renouncing positive fame...... after all those failed to make significant dent on the -100 ..... At that point in time, I was asked for advice.... I had nothing to offer as I haven't touched faction fame since 2004. You were -52.....I imagine it might be a bit different at -100 but again, I came in only after those routes were already tried.

i suggested they ask CSR team..... CSR team suggested the route and, as that's slow, when I was asked to assist, was only too glad to try and help an old friend stay in game. The devs implemented very easy ways to reduce positive fame (renouncing). I filed a ticket suggesting that same be done for - fame since they were going nowhere. But the response I got was that such wasn't likely to happen and they best thing they could do was follow the direction given by the CSR team and kill NPC's.

This makes sense given the game's fame mechanics. Lacking an intimate knowledge of fame mechanics, these folks would have a hard time discovering the best course of action because nothing will produce an observable increase in extreme fames without many repeated attempts. There are two reasons for this:

1) Increasing fame is about 26x slower at the extreme ends (-100 or +100) of the fame range than at the center (0 fame).

2) Any of the methods they tried other than bandit kill (very grateful) teleport Welcomer missions would not do much to cult fame. And even focusing on just these strongest missions would still require about 15 missions to raise fame from -100 to -99.

P.S. If you want a real challenge sometime, try raising a tribal fame from -100. I am currently working on one that has only 1 mission giver that will talk to me, that mission giver has no very grateful missions for me and he wanders about through the Grove of Confusion maze. :p

I wasn't there every day, I know at least one of em did nothing else for 3 weeks.....a GM reset dropped a point but neve rgot past 98. Interesting bit about the 26X thing, I admnire ya patience in figuring that out.....I kinda remember averaging 1 point every 4 missions doing the 33 thru 60 run.

I did renouce citizenship again and raised my civ fame just by doing tryker corporal missions ....took literally hours t go from 24 to 50. From 24 - 42 took just one round of missions which seems way way to easy.

Renouncing or joining a civ caps + race fame but (I assume) doesn't cap negative..... If I gad renounced Fyros citizenship w/ fame = 100, I'd drop to 50. Seems to me there should be something similar to drop - fame also. For example, ya would think simply renouncing say kara improve ya standing in kami's eyes and visa versa ?

That would go against the recent fame changes they made that allow for "anti" civ/faction fame. So just because you are no longer Kara wouldn't necessarily mean you're not still anti-Kami.

#15 Report | Quote[en]

Why ? When I renounced my Fyros citizenship 3 days ago, did I become anti-fyros ? No, my fame was just capped at 50. Why is this any different ?

If it's OK under the current system to bring fame down from 100 to 50 simply by "renouncing", why not down from -100 to -50 ? Why is the positive side different from the negative side. They put in a whole system to easily reduce positive fame (1 point for each time ya renounce), where's the corresponding mechanism for negative fame ?

They wouldn't even have to go that far ..... just get it down far enough that if ya spend an entire day working fame, ya mite see a point or two change.

When you "go kami", your kara fame automatically goes from whatever to -50. So when ya renouce kami, why doesn't at least part of that disappear ?
