Sometimes it's very hard to find raw material deposit using 'tracking' report text. It will be very helpfull if you can add temporary arrow pointer to radar while 'tracking' skill is active. Please say will it be hard to make this or not? Little forager lost in 'tracking' without vector hope on you ;)

Is distance a) increasing or b) decreasing?
- If a) walk backwards. Don't turn around, walk backwards until distance starts increasing.
- If b) keep going until distance starts increasing.
When distance starts increasing, move in opposite direction few paces then start moving sideways (hold right mouse button + Left or Right).

Apply above logic with lateral movement.

Not saying it's silly idea or anything, just giving you "workaround".

I believe this "text tracking" is a purposeful feature, making it a tiny little bit more challenging to locate resources. This could be balanced by not giving an indication of the distance, but just the direction instead.

That could be interesting as well, you'd have to rely on the location distance stanza to get an upper bound on the distance and you'd know you reached the spot when the arrow would spin around once you're on top of the target.

I usually use the geographic directions instead of forward, backwards, sidewards.

Go north, if increasing go south otherwise continue till increase and then go east if increase go west otherwise continue till increase.
ocf run/walk slower the closer you get to the target...
Most of the time I've got the problem that I'm standing directly on top of the spot I've been searching so I have to take a few steps back to be able to find the source with prospecting.

And if you're still on Silan:
I have a feeling it's harder to find the spots there because they overlap a lot...

I understand, but sometimes it's hard to locate also using this technics. And it's kill all interest, when you running around this damned ghost small resource deposit during 10-20 minutes. Arrow on radar will be very helpfull in this situations, Sure, you can say, that we can use more angle stanza during opening a deposit, you'll be right. But why not to help us and to make game interface more friendly?

I have 51, 102, 51, 66, 53 lvls of forage, not a guru, but not a beginner too. Really, arrow on radar will help a lot.

If Deposit Tracking actually placed you on top of the tracked materials, then maybe a pointer could be justified but tracking is only a crude tool to place you in the vicinity of the required materials and it is necessary to use prospecting skills, after tracking.

I understood, but sometimes deposit is too small and it takes a lot of time to open it even using all technics, discussed here. Arrow pointer will help with direction for opening skills, if you haven't learned 360 degree opening. Sure, developers can make it as addition stanza, that can be bought by 20-50 skill-points, but it will be usefull addition, i'll buy it, if it'll be done.

working as intended right now and see now use for another arrow pointer which would probably block out what i really use it for aka seeing how far away KP are or just aggro in general

If we talking about interface additions for this idea - it can be made same as we choose North, Target or Quests by right-clicking on radar. So pointer for tracking will be shown/hide by you decision ;)

Just as a GUI addition, yeah. Shouldn't be hard to implement, client already has all the data. But that would be kinda cheap so it should be tied to a stanza and then it becomes a lot more work. At lower levels where such feature would be mostly used SPs are tight as it is and later on most people do just fine without it so I'm afraid it would end up as just something nobody buys and would as such be a waste of development time. There's whole host of "exploration" stanzas that could be added. They pretty much all face same problem. When you'd use them you couldn't afford them and when you could afford them they become obsolete.

Personally I would definitely buy "Ignore obstacles" :)

I don't see the difference; both methods bring you to the location, so why not?
Or why not make it a blinking green spot on the radar?
Or even better; make this a new spell or prospection option for some extra focus, which you can learn from a Harvester Trainer! :)

Prospecting and foraging for materials was never supposed to be easy - that's what makes it so challenging. It's a skill you need to learn and learning skills is one of the things this game is all about.

Yes, it can be a pain finding a deposit but you get a real sense of achievement when you find what you want. And once you've found it prospecting is over and digging begins. You won't need to look again for the same deposit.

These days we have maps of deposits made by players - imagine finding your deposit (even on Silan) without any idea where to look. I don't hear anyone complaining about that or asking for the maps to be banned.

In-game, it's a different magic skill to any other and as such it works in a different way. You are looking for a deposit of material buried in the ground. Any spell to find it is going to be vague.

I think there are two different issues mixing here:

1. it is not very easy (but very feasible as many mentioned) to find the point where tracking leads you to. Actually I think it's very easy to find the point if you accept a distance of a few meters remaining. The normal prospecting will cover more than a few meters.

2. material tracking is not very accurate in surface areas. even if you get to the exact point that tracking points you to, you are not likely to find matching materials there (unless you use large range prospecting).

The 2nd issue will make you feel you were suffering from issue 1. but changing issue 1 does not correct issue 2.
