IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Allow DP to be quickly reduced while at the city bars, Give crafters better crafting at stables.

besides making use of existing locations this would create a more lively atmosphere in cities.

Very much like the idea about crafting bonuses: In cities, and even in villages and on outposts the feeling of safety should boost concentration and thus crafting. Also, those locations have tools readily available. So the idea is consistent and believable. The effect may be subtle: Slight increase in success percentage.

The DP reduction over time while being logged in could also make sense, not restricted to the bar, but to the city where the homin has an appartment. That city will be a place of safety and maybe even serenity (even for Trykers?) and thus provide a good atmosphere to overcome the mental aftershock of temporary death.

yeap but i think needs to be more specific to location than just 'city'. The bars need to be made gathering places and offer something useful to stick around for. while actual drinks would be best, a general bonus would be next.

And why not give a specific bonus to weapons crafters while in Pyr forge? Give some use to all these spots not just a plce to run into, get mission, run out.

I gues that's a good idea.
melee crafting bonuses in the Fyros Forge, Jewels in Matis , Medim armors and ranged weapons armors at the Tryker's palce, Light armors, shields at Zorai's place.

Generally some specific crafts in some specific citties that have a forge, loom, or any other kind of manufacturing-specific architecture.

yea I like that 'manufactoring specific architecture'

I could go to Pyr for melee weapons, and Yrkanis for jewels. course you could sell and buy them in any city but some cities would be hubs.

I like the idea of making the bars more relevant to everyday play. Every time I've been in one ingame there is nobody there - and why would there be? Apart from a few missions there is no reason to go in.

Shabang and I were talking this over with Dazzie a few days ago.

How about this : you buy food and drink in the bar (which has to be consumed on the premises) and this temporarily boosts regen of all your stats - or just one depending on the food and drink consumed - say Stinga Rum boosts Focus regen. Maybe a nice Bodoc Steak would take your DP down by half.

Bars are also a place to gossip and share stories, meet people and relax. There is endless scope for making them useful and interesting to visit. Any more ideas?

It may be a bit hard to break the "Stables" habit. especially for crafting. After all, that's where we generally keep our packers. Because the crafters are there, other people gather. I suspect even if you put out the fancy food at the bars that the party will tend to move to the "kitchen".

I do like the idea of trying to make the bars a gathering place, but the few times I have tried to do exchanges there (payment for crafted goods) I generally get the "where's that?" reaction.

I would expect stinga rum to reduce the regen of focus!

Crafting at the Stables - because that's where your Mektoub is ? I take my Mektoub out of the Stables so I can craft in front of the Merchant. That way, when I cannot take what I just crafted because I get the 'Bag Full' message, I can free up bag space by selling to the merchant without interrupting my crafting.

Can do the same thing with packer in the stable and sell to the stable boy.

Well the wheel of fortune was probably an attempt for that - that's why it's in (one of) each capitols bar(s)

And I don't think that a reg boost will be very interesting if it is in the same region as the flowers are.

Could be interesting though if it lets say doubles your Metabolism while reducing the Dexterity and Balance
Or add 50% to Strength and Constitution while reducing Balance and Dexterity

(just wanted to show the huge amount)
And that would be active for 2 hours following a 5 minute (or maybe 10mins) stay at the bar after having the right drink there

The amount of available drinks/food could again depend on people delivering the right materials to the barkeeper (eg. raw Bodoc meat and some herbs are needed for a Bodoc steak)

Now that's an interesting idea. Little mini-missions to keep the bar stocked up. Might be a way to get new players a few dappers and then you could send experienced players out for, to take an instance, kidinak claws for the special bouillabaisse. (OK, they aren't actually crabs, but...)

Still, that might take dev time away from important things. I wonder if it's possible to set it up as a user-operated thing?

This is a nice idea for the WebIG system that recently got released as open-source. So basically anyone with some decent web development skill can implement it and submit it as proposal to winchgate.

Love the idea. My MUD has something similar with dishes that we can create at certain eateries, and we've always had booze in bars. (Getting drunk there randomly causes players to sit on the ground; maybe getting drunk here could have a random chance of setting off the "drunk" emote?)

... Can the webIG actualy set off events ingame Ulykus?

Yes, it can... Examples for WebIG applications are occupations, the goo hand-in and title guy, appartment customization, new title selector and many more.
