I have one problem today. Client start normally but after character selection appear a black screen.
If i make a "tail -F log.log"

I have exactly the same problem.

(P.S im on a mac)

Black screen after character selection then timed out
Followed by white screen when I attempted again
Followed by: Checking file ended with errors: curl download failed: (ec 6 0)
at login - totally lost and I will keep checking forums - possibly something in all my folders needs deleting? *Said hopefully*
On Windows vista
And on lappy - windows 7

I have the same problem
with a new account and character work

I got this problem too on 2 different pc with 2 different account.

I did have it before on win7 and a new istallation brought away this "black screen of emptyness" :)

Heyas, Bina (and others) -- the fault in not with ourselves, but in our stars.

There appears to be a problem with the servers.

There are two stages to logging in. The first is to log in and select your toon. That is handled by the login servers, which then hand you off to the regular servers. If those are malfunctioning or down, then all you get is the black screen.

Since it is Sunday morning in Paris, there is likely to be a delay in the server operator noticing the problem and rebooting.

I too am getting a black screen right after I pick my character, and try to enter game. I have to open task manager and shut down the game at that point. Everything was going good tonight in game with just a few lag spikes, then all of the sudden I got a huge lag spike and got disconnected. Ever since then, I get the black screen when I try to enter game from character select. Either the servers crashed, or maybe they are doing work on them. If they are working on them, why was there not a notice of it? I think servers must have crashed or something, hopefully they will be working again later or monday I guess.

I suspect that all of us are experiencing this problem. I agree with Bittty, it does seem to be that there is no response from the game servers.

I am just being patient and waiting until the problem, whatever it is, is solved.

Thanks Bittty - when I try to log in now the game looks for "getting file ryzom_00610.idx" then gives me an error message - hey ho

same problem here.been trying for two hours to login.even reinstall the game on linux and windows...nothing

Beefy here on location live from Fairhaven where things are looking.... quiet. As far as I can tell I might be one of about 6 or so people who finally managed to get past the "Black Screen of Infinate Sorrow". Got in on laptop after deleting everything in the unpack folder in my game dir and letting it re patch, and then walking away from the black screen for 20 minutes to go pour beer onto the problem.

Im not sure if deleting the contents of unpack is the reason I finally got in or a coincidence but maybe something to try... trying it now on another PC to see if I can get another account on.

Developers of game deal with this problem?
Also there are players which could to get rid of the black screen?

LOL - thanks for the news from Fairhaven, reporter on the ground - am trying yet once more ... but what is an "unpack folder", bearing in mind I am naff at computer bits!
Back to the Screen of Infinite Sorrow - which is preferable to error message, at least it looks like it is making an effort!

heheh... well im sorry to say after a second attempt deleting the contents of unpack folder yielded no improvements.... others have tried it too can safely say it doesnt help.

It's really shame, that several ppl have this bug for 1 week or so, and we really got no fix, no explanation.....it's really sad how things works here...
