Hi,

I play Ryzom on my desktop and its 24" screen for comfort, but I also have it on my laptop which I can use away from home. I noticed that my saved landmarks (for the compass or map) are only available on my desktop. Is there a file I could copy from the desktop to the laptop to copy my saved landmarks?

And, while I am thinking about that, would it not be sometimes useful to be able to exchange landmarks with other players ?

Many thanks

Crotalus

PS: my desktop runs Xubuntu GNU/Linux 11.10 while my laptop runs Linux Mint 12.

In the ryzom subfolder "save" you find a file called interface_crotalus.icfg
in there are your landmarks (and some other stuff i dont recall right now).

Maybe. The weird this is that this file is not a text file, so I cannot read it. It might be some compressed XML, but I am not sure. Do you know?

But I will copy it to the laptop and see what this does.

Thanks and cheers :-)

Have you tried zooming in on the map? It may not be this but I've noticed that my map markers disappear as I zoom out

It's bad luck to be superstitious . . .

that is normal, I think, and its to avoid having a map jam-packed with little markers.

For the file format, it is a serialized object or in other words a binary file. You should not change those to prevent malfunctions (copying doesn't seem to hurt though).

Key assigments and macros are stored in an xml file (save/keys_charname.xml) and can be changed using suitable text editors.

Its really to bad Landmark information is not stored in a separate file. My PC screen and Laptop screen are different sizes and resolutions and thus this file can not be used across multiple systems without constant copying and reconfiguration of your windows.

It would be awesome to just have a Landmark file and then use a service (ie: Dropbox) to symlink that file to use across multiple systems.

Or better yet, store Landmark information within the character itself (server-side).
