Hello all. I am very interested in starting to play Ryzom. I made a quick character and love the ambiance and the unique look. I am looking to move from Everquest II to this game. I am really starting to embrace Linux and I love that there is a great looking MMO that will work great in Linux. I played Neverwinter (RP servers) prior to Everquest II.

I do have a couple of questions. While I assure you all that I looked over the forums, some of the information is pretty old or (please forgive me, I mean no disrespect) contradictory.

Cost:
The first, and most important, question I have is about the subscription costs. Several sites say it is free; but, I see rates in the Ryzom site. (http://www.ryzom.com/en/mmorpg-rpg-mmo-subscription-options.html) I also see payment options in the "My Account" area. Is Ryzom free to play?

Stanzas:
I suppose in EQ2 we would call that AA builds. Are there any great links that talk you through how to do these? Perhaps a site or page that will show some sample stanzas?

Learning "Class/Race":
Is there a race or class template that would be good to learn the basic feel for the game? Perhaps a build that will allow you to kill and heal, etc?

I am really looking forward to playing this game. It looks very immersive and the posts in the forums show a user base with a real passion for the game. Any help or direction would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you all so much.

Ryzom has some 63 skills that can be leveled to lv250. FreeToPlay accounts are capped at level 125, want to go higher you have to pay.

Ryzom has no character class builds. A player can develop any of the skills available and become whatever that mix of skills makes him or her.

Thank you for the quick reply, Xatokar. I'll be sure to check the sites this evening.

And as to races: the only differences in gameplay you'll possibly notice are small differences in natural magic resists.
Each race has resists, but each race has them for different spells. Fyro for example have some natural resistence to fire, Matis the same amount of resistence to poison.
Apart from that, the only differences are the fame (reputation) levels you start out with (which can be changed in a few days to anything else), the initial craft skills you gain in the starter zone (all the others can be learned though), and looks. Important maybe for roleplaying if you're into that, but otherwise merely cosmetic.
