IDEAS FOR RYZOM

I know it is probably something that has been suggested and debated before but I cant find it.

up the max skill level.

seems like it works for just about every other game to get old players back and draw new ones

I can see it work maybe. But ryzom already has so many skills to learn => 63 skill tree's to 250 is alot already, not much have reached that lvl of enlightment yet.
I can also see it not work, for instance when an old player returns after a year and see's he's not a master anymore in any skill he might be put off by it and just logout to never log back in again.
Moving up max lvl to 300 would mean new zones/mobs/.... just to get ppl to grind their skills for a week or 4 extra in the best case. All I see it do is in the short turn some ppl getting stronger then the rest but the rest would catch up to them eventually after a week or so probably and what then ask for another max lvl removal???

I follow Subo in this, there'd have to be a LOT more done than just the lvl's..
and if you do it ppl are gonna ask for more..

imo 250 is nice, certainly with the entire skill-tree system

New skills would be much more interesting than raising the cap. I think having to level multiple masters again would be extremely annoying for most.

Dunno, figure it works for another game I wont name here that has kept the largest population. looks like the devs are already working on a new region, just keeping my posts to one idea at a time.

They did release new skills, occupations, A lot of people seem to think that they are too much effort for little reward, Tell those same people that they are suddenly not "Uber" anymore and many will come back to just hit the top again.

Or at least that is what seems to happen with that other game.

If Ryzom had you pick a class and you could level that one thing to 250, and then they increased it to 300 that would be fine. I'm just saying, other games that raise level caps don't allow you to level 63 trees to 250. You can go 60 > 70 > 80 > 85 > 90, and you only need to level those few levels each time. I'm assuming the xp per level would keep increasing and it would take a long time to hit 300 in even one skill. A skill that has already been mastered. I can't see that being very fun for people with more than one mastered skill.

if we had a couple off hundred ppl with all 63 skill trees maxed out i would say yes. But how many have maxed out skill trees here 3? 4?. The game you talk about a big majority of the players have a maxed out skill and are getting bored so they just ask some extra money and raise the lvl cap. Feel free to ask again once you have all 15.750 lvls in ryzom :)

Just an idea to get more paying accounts back on.,

more paying accounts = more developer budget and more fun things ina game that is already a great game :)

#11 [en]

I just don't think we would see that many paying accounts back for a long grind. I think the marauder city they announched some months ago might bring some ppl back but they announced it way to fast, haven't seen anything from it in 8months (except being me being accuessed by event ppl about some stuff that happend during events that where such bad lies by them i never heard back on it or even an appoligy).
I'm just saying ryzom already has a big grind and i don't think ppl would return to grind again.

for alot of people the best skills and best gear mean they have "won" a game. that is why companies come out with more progression upward (higher levels) instead of sideways (more skills)

getting stronger/tougher/better is a big draw.

you might be right that it wouldnt work, but literally millions of gamers come down on my side of the coin.

and in the end, all the posts here are just to give the devs ideas, try to give them something to work from in case one of us can spark a brilliant Idea,

So if I think of something or see something that has worked other places I will toss it out :)

The issue that this game would face is the same issue your other game example now faces: after a certain point, you CAN'T raise the level cap any more or you scare away new players. With 250 max levels, Ryzom probably already sounds scary to someone used to WoW's 85 -- and note, Blizzard only raised the cap by 5 levels and not 10 with Cataclysm, and will be doing the same with Pandaria. They already recognize the problem looming ahead.

What Ryzom needs is something for max-level players to do besides sit around, or hunt the occasional boss or animal every few days. There have been many ideas offered, and undoubtedly there are countless more that have yet to be offered.

Raising the level cap by itself isn't interesting enough to bring anyone back. That's all Ryzom really has right now is the level grind. We need something NEW, not beating the same horse again and again. We have 250 levels in various skills ... we need something to DO with those 250 levels.

Ryzom is an MMORPG. We have an EVENT team. That, to me, indicates that occasionally there will be large EVENTS for the server. They are not an RP team. Content will never equal RP. Content whether higher skills or more missions or outposts or whatever will always be limited. They are all tools, tools for US as players to use to create our own stories.

Using them is where the RP aspect comes in. Atys is one giant sandbox but so many players just want to figure out how to beat the sandbox (how *DOES* one beat a sandbox?) rather than actually make sandcastles.

Start using your imaginations to build sandcastles instead of alwasy asking for bigger shovels.

Please no level cap raising. Having Mastered all Magic i'd hate to grind anymore lvls in affys. It's a pita already. Adding 50 more lvls of having to skills that are rarely wanted in high lvl teams grind. Leveling affys you learn who your friends are.Personaly some of the events have been great. Whisking the king from the wedding to the lakes was a blast. Riding our meks on a mad dash through the Maze of Sprite and accross Loria was fun. I'd certainly love new skills. There are plenty of extra sps to buy them. 3038 in magic alone if you master all trees. So I'd vote more and bigger events and skills before we add 63 trees 50 lvls.
