My kids have shown and interest in Ryzom, so I may let them explore Silan a bit.

Is there a way to stop other players chatting to them whilst they play i.e. an 'unsociable' chat mode?

You can hide the main chat window (ctrl + alt + shift + x I think, press K and look under windows for Main Chat) and turn off chat bubbles (press U, Interface -> In Scene -> Chat messages). However, the only way to block /tells is via the Ignore list.

to hide main chat window is just the x shortcut, altho, if your kids press x again it'll reappear.. (unless you'd edit the shortcut yourself)

to block tells you'd have to place all players on ignore list.. which would be.. weird at least
