I just want to bump on this thread, I am using Mavericks and Snow both have high cpu usage from 120% to 190%. Hope someone could direct me on what to do about this issue.

Hi Afriel -- No idea what Mavericks and Snow are, but how can CPU usage be greater than 100%?

Finally solved my problem by getting a new machine (forced by a crack on the MB -- which might have been related to the problem). Once I figured out the whole dual CPU setup on the new comp things have been fine.

Hi Afriel -- No idea what Mavericks and Snow are, but how can CPU usage be greater than 100%?

1 thread is 100%. if you have multi core/thread cpu like intel 4 cores/8 threads for example, and process is using all 8 threads in full, then cpu usage in that case can be 800%.

Maverick and Snow(Leopard) are Mac OS X versions
