Thank you for your reply. I downloaded it freshly about an hour ago. I tried both clients after the one from the App Store didn't work (which DOES work under Catalina on my MacBook).
PS: I just tried the "regular" client as well on my MacBook and it works fine. Seems there must be an issue either with macOS 10.13, or it is my Hackintosh after all. Which would be weird.
PPS: Well this is totally weird! I tried playing with the setup, and started it again. All of a sudden it wanted to patch something, and now it works! WTH?!? :D
Well, I'm happy.
