No i think occupations are interesting, take it as a side quests to get uncommon items.

I really liked doing the Occupations, at first I didn't, but later I really got into it just for the sake of doing them. It was fun! I mastered them all, except Water Carrier, because, yes, I kept it at grade 2 to get sap crystals via NH.
But it doesn't make sense to me to get all this stuff from New Horizons. They are supposed to be a transport company sending you to places around a territory with their Mektoubs aren't they? Then why get fame, sap crystals, or even dappers from them? Don't we pay them to transport us? For Occ items? Why are we giving them Occ items? It seems to make more sense to have some mission giver either in the cities or outside who we could do all this 'business' with Lore-wise. And, now that we have the Ranger Pathways, do we really need NH? Or are they supposed to be a general merchandising business group? I say we give it a chance. Let them improve the mission givers.
And if you want dappers, heck, get to work and level up your crafting. I busted my butt to level up my crafting to be able to make big dappers now, you can too!
