chapter 43 (the great explorers)

after several seasons of travel with little change other then our location one of the teams has made yet another discovery of a chest with scrolls and items.
this time the items are 2 pistols and ammo, both of a quality we've never seen before. the pistols have a rate of fire much higher then anything we've seen. the ammo does twice the damage of the best ammo we know of. the scrolls related to the items say they are the work of the eldest crafter's of pistols and of ammo that their homelands had to offer. they were left because they are the last of their kind for the crafter's were killed during an attack of a large group of creatures while the hunters were collecting foods for their nightly meal.
the scrolls speak of the same dangerous steep climb down a path, however they go on to add that it was a very narrow path. they say that one wrong step would be certain death from a long fall to the lands below. like all the other scrolls the teams have recovered they speak of dangerous creatures along the way. most bothersome of all to the teams is the fact that like the last set of scrolls they speak of the homelands where those that wrote these came from. lands and cities that were attacked by large groups of fearsome and vicious creatures which lead to the abandonment of their homes in search of safer lands to live in.
these don't add much to what we already know of the climb, but we now think that it may be cliffs that we are looking for and not a hill or mountain. we again plan to continue our journeys onward following the old abandon campsites as our only sure guide that we're following the correct path. as always we will report home any major new discovery or progress worthy of dispatching a report home. keep us in your thoughts atys, your support and our desire will drive us on to the goal we seek.
