actually 'tries to execute' statement is true. ldd is wrapper script for 'LD_TRACE_LOADED_OBJECTS=1 ./ryzom_client' (there is bit more magic involved).I agree it's a totally inaccurate statement.
The LD_TRACE_LOADED_OBJECTS=1 variable tells the linker to print out all the libraries and then exit the program.
