It often happened to me to be teleported not at teh base of the altar, but on a big bark close to it.

If it's the same as for me, i'm glad not to be the only one, but you must have been really naughty so that they punish you rendering you not to be able to move. It surprise me that you would be unable to use a tp. It happened to me once to be unable to move, but I was able to use a tp if I remember right. It happened to me yesterday and I was able to move (this allows a great discovery from above :) )
I guess you can ask someone to tp at Upper Bog and duel you, so that you die and can resurrect elsewhere.
