[Matis] Go back to the Shadow: Our invaded Kindom (09-Nov-2012)

28 Thermis, 3 AC, 2570

The Cleansing of the Lands is now finished.  It has taken me a few days to recover, but now I set pen to paper to tell the tale of the last battle, the Cleansing of the Forest.

I barely had time to check in at the Guildhall before the call went out to assemble. I hurried to Natae, having been sent to that city from Yrkanis. There I found assembled a small but potent force of homins, including many who had been with the force in the cleansing of Witherings.  Happy greetings were cut short by an incursion of Kitin Soldiers into Natae itself, triggered by an unhappy homin who ventured too close to the mound.  We beat them back and then hurriedly organized ourselves.

Our General, Sergia Pirello, led us forth as our heavily armed warriors pulled small groups (usually) to be met by the spells that we have learned, cold, fire, lightning and shock. Our healers cast healing spells incessently and in short order we had cleared the Mound in front of Natae.

Sirgia then led us north along the great road to Mounds near Pskopla Knoll.  There we had a more difficult time of it and my team was several times trodden into the dust except for our strongest fighters.  Each time, however, team members and those outside my team came back and healed us all.  Eventually the Outpost at Psykopla Knoll was relieved and we headed yet further north out of Majestic Gardens and into the Knoll of Dissent.

There our small force was beset by Torbaks and Kipestas as well as by the Kitin Soldiers and Workers of the Mounds.  However, we had learned our lessons and General Pirello led us well, keeping us together and allowing us to use our skills to the fullest extent.

North we traveled, all the way to Torbak Hill and Runninghill Pass, and we cleared the Knoll region of all the Kitin. We even slew a great Kipesta that took the whole of our force some time to  bring down.

Then Sirgia called upon us to force-march back down the road to Davae to join with the other homin forces to clear the great complex of Mounds that lay in front of the gates of Yrkanis.

When we got to Davae, aye, when we got there -- there was a sight to see!  The other two forces had combined and we added our might to theirs and flowed over the small mound outside that village, then flowed north like one of the great waterfalls in Aedan Aqueous to fall in thunder upon the last of the Kitin of the Mounds. Even the second monstrous Kipesta fell quickly before *that* force.

And so the last of the Kitin of the Depths fell, and when we thought the day done, another force of Kitin came up out of the tunnels, falling on our flank as we strode towards Yrkanis.  The Kitin must have used their last, least, warriors in that attack, for it had none of the pale Kitin of the Depths in it and it was very easily beaten down once the force reformed.

Then, finally, did we enter into Yrkanis to the cheers of all. Triumph was to the homins who fought that day.

And yet I cannot help but feel that we must keep a sharp eye and be vigilant always.  We have not killed them all, I am certain.
