If you have a free account, you have the choice between:
Doing nothing: In this case, all characters of the account will be deleted.
Involve one or more of your characters in events before the servers close: In this case, their levels will be reset and will start with a Basic Pack.
Yeah, it's really not hard to participate (just participate) in an event and you get to keep your character with a basic package. Okay so you lose levels, but it's better than the entire server starting from scratch. As a new f2p I really haven't increased my levels too much so I'd be okay with that. I really didn't want to lose the "identity" of my character though.
Personally this has convinced me to start paying. I realized that I really like this game and community so I should support it. I hope others will be able to do so as well.
