Anyway, not everyone is able to get away with $100 a year for Ryzom. If you tried the PayByCash method and chose Western Union it would get to something like $300 a year (don't forget the commissions the WU agent will add on top of what PayByCash shows!). And then that's the amount most people can only spend for a yearly vacation (per family member) these days...
I won't be subbing me and my wife, and my kid for a total of $900 yearly, sorry. There are way better things to spend that amount on.
And... Ryzom is perfectly enjoyable on f2p accounts, so it is f2p in a sense. You can be an adequate member of community without paying anything, that's more than most other games offer.
