haven't used apartments yet, but aren't aparments supposed to be in some town to which you can tp and then walk like ~300m to your apartment?
yes they are, but that 300 meters or so through a winding city can take a bit. so appartments are a bit useless for storage, even though they have far more capacity than a packer, of anything you might need in a hurry. so no use for storing gear.
they are also in areas of the cities that have no handy merchants (for the most part) so no real use for storing crafting mats except the things you want to long term store.
