Hope I can help answer your questions and straighten out the misinformation you received.
1. Trykers rock!! Ok, I maybe a bit biased on this issue, but the Lakes are a great place to live and the Tryker guilds are pretty tight group in their own right.
2. In regard to easy starting place, each starter city has its merits. It is usually easier to find teams in the Lakes and perhaps that was the perspective of the information given to you. There are easy locations in all the starter areas to work on your levels, it is a matter of finding them or having someone give you the 2 dapper tour.
3. As far as trekking, Ballistic Mystix, does lead a regular trek on most Tuesday evenings US. There is also a scheduled trek on Saturdays evenings EU lead by Pheadras Tears. I even heard tell of a regular Friday trek being organized (not sure what time). Also, if you join a guild, they should help you get trekked around as well. Not to even mention that many individuals would be glad to help schedule a time if available. Keep in mind, many individuals cannot always drop what they are doing to help. Though you stated the times you were available, you did not state your timezone, that would help those of us reading the forums to make an informed decision. You can trek yourself at level 28, but without prior knowledge to the areas you would have to go through might prove to be very difficult. It would help to have the Speed and Invulnerability Auras to get through some of the more difficult areas.
4. Crafting for other racial plans requires that you go to that nation to get the plans. Until you are trekked you will be limited to Tryker plans only. To see what various plans and colors as well as the required resources, www.ballisticmystix.net site has a dressing room and resource database that is helpful.
5. As far as your personal crafting, it is all your choice where you want to spend your points, but most people pick one area to concentrate in and level it up. If you join a guild there may be an area that you could help fill and you might want to wait to pick your area of concentration if you are not sure what you would like to do.
6. I would say that the Kami/Karavan information you were given is completely incorrect. It really depends on the guild you join, if any, and the people you hang with. There are many helpful Kami and Karavan and some that are not I am not sure why this would even be said along faction lines. My experience is that if you find yourself a group that you enjoy playing with (not just the ones who give you more candy to get you to join), in or out of a guild, they will always be helpful to you.
Hope this helps you out and welcome to the Lakes!
