Having read through the thread, I think that the problems with merging shards have been clearly stated: difference in cultural attitudes (IRL and in-game), language problems in some cases making it *harder* to find teams and get assistance and in all cases producing cacophony, and difficulties in setting up/adjusting/etc. the matter of OP's and guild names.
I would also like to second Meagon on the statement that the shards were not meant to hold "thousands" of people. In my opinion, "hundreds" would be much more reasonable, with perhaps a total population per shard of around a thousand. The question I have, for those reading from the other shards: How low are the populations of Aniro and Leanon? I get the impression that they are far more populated than Arispotle.
