Couldn't resist adding something to this post. Firstly, fair point, Marelli, but lest we forget, the rites are not only about lore, they are also about the boosts/buffs/extra plans that come with completing them, and let's be honest, that's the main reason why some people do them. I mean, how many people have you heard ask 'What rite is it that tells me more about the history of the Fyros?' More often than not, people ask what rites grant this boost, or give that bonus.
True, once you get the boost/buff/extra plan, you have it, job done, but there's the nice, warm, fuzzy feeling you get (or at least I get) looking at my encyclopedia and seeing the completed rites, as well as the involvement when you actually get round to reading the rite entries. But this is not the main reason why I think these need to be done.
Simply speaking, leaving them pockmarked like this is embarrassing, makes the game seem unkempt. I can't really put into words the shame of having to admit to a newbie
