"... and if you could decipher this, Filira, the Karan would certainly be deeply impressed ..."
"Calm down, Menthys. Apart from the fact that decyphering is far from my expertise, you need something to work on from first. As a rule, that is the frequency of letters in the alphabet, as well as the letters than can appear as double letters. If you know the used language, that is, or the used dialect. Now there's the rub right from the start. It doesn't appear to be a code taken from a dialect I do speak or write in. If it's in Fyrk, which actually would make sense, it's even in a language I hardly can make heads and tails of. I'd say that's a puzzle tailor-made for the Fyros - although I'd be delighted if a Matis comes up with the solution.
If there is anything I could say about this, it's about the structure of the thing. It appears to be a prayer, a chant, or an incantation, based on the repetition in the first two lines. It doesn't seem to have a lyrical form, although it follows a rhythmic structure, which again points at a prayer, a chant, or an incantation. But all this is obvious, not least if you take in the circumstances, of course, and it doesn't help at all - especially when you count in the life lesson that you should never trust the obvious.
So, Menthys, leave this to homins more qualified than you and I. Return to your prayers while I try to bring some structure into my own writings. And, please, don't disturb me again with this - unless someone comes up with a decryption."
