Pephoan Kridix looks at the door that separates him from the wrath of Euphanix Apotheps.
'Summoned to present thyself without further ado.'
He straigtens up and knocks.
Euphanix waves a gun to invite him to sit down.
"Ah, Pephoan Kridix! Sit down and listen to me! Do you think one can just leave like this without warning anyone?"
Pephoan is careful not to answer.
Euphanix puts down her pistol, picks up a letter and pretends to read it before launching, in a sarcastic tone that leaves no doubt about the rage that inhabits her:
"Akep anyway for having warned that you would attend your friend's funeral!"
"I had to..."
"Luckily it's a good thing Patriots have been alerted by Kyan and went looking for you. What did you think you could do by yourself?" Euphanix cuts him, ranting.
"And I should have left my friends in the hands of these monsters?!" exclaims Pephoan, jumping to his feet.
"Detal! Just think for a second!"
Euphanix reads aloud:
"‘Accompanied by the homins who rescued me, I reached a cave infested with cuttlers.’… Do you think you could have defeated all those beasts? All you would have succeeded in doing is to be brought back by the Powers! How would that have helped your friends?"
Euphanix stares at Pephoan for a long moment before continuing:
"Now sit down! You have proven to be very rash in your search for the truth, but also brave and courageous. That's why your punishment won't be too heavy. But don't expect to have much free time in the next few months! You'll be taking accelerated training after the usual classes to catch up, and you'll be assigned to serve in the Academy canteen every day for two months."
Pephoan nods.
"Your letter also spoke of an unintelligible document. Where is it?"
Pephoan pulls a scorched parchment from his pocket and holds it out.
"It's this page."
Euphanix takes the half-charred parchment and scowls.
"Um, indeed, it's apparently coded... Akep, you can go back to class."
Euphanix watches him walk out and smiles. Pephoan's progress pleases her and bodes well for the future. Nothing seems to exist of the shy and timid kid anymore. Soon, he will be able to stand on his own feet.
But first she has to take care of the document.
After depositing it in the archives, she puts out an announcement from the Academy. A little intellectual gymnastics will not be displeased.
Fyros and friends of the Empire!

Therefore, you are invited to come and consult it in the library of the Imperial Academy of Pyr and to participate in its decoding.
