Both of these materials are in desperate need for a revamp. But I think, that Maga also including the effect of Cheng would make this material rather overpowered.
My proposal is that the effect of Cheng should be changed to bonus to sap and HP consumption, applied randomly, i. e., you get a chance that the spell casted will take less sap or HP, than it does usually.
As for Greslin, a chance for reducing aggressiveness of one of Rate/Speed/Q stanzas would be just fine.
