Addition of new crafting recipes would be a lot of trouble unless the results were just existing armor with new skins. I would presume that they would be forms of LA, but who sells them? How are they integrated with the existing plans, are they BQ, medQ or HQ?
They could be done something like the Candy Canes that were 'released' the very first Atysmas; they were available to buy on the merchant and were just a very basic staff/mace with a skin on it. IIRC there were only a limited number and were very rare pre-merge; not sure if that would be desirable with these.
Similarly the pre-order Armlet is just a very basic q10 buckler but has a skin on it that makes it look shiny.
How hard are skins to implement?

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.
