If you need to configure the basic stuff (display, sound, ..), then use ryzom_configuration_qt program from the same directory ryzom_client is in.

Stop editing files. Especially client_default.cfg. If you need to edit, and I mean really need to, copy the statement from client_default.cfg into client.cfg. Do not copy everything over.I believe another problem is with the default graphics driver. No matter how many times I re-edit the file after the patch is done it changes back to whatever it decides it wants the driver to be in client_default.cfg after the patch is done. So each time before patching I have to go back into client_default.cfg and change the driver back to OpenGL.
