Je suis certain qu'il se fera un plaisir de vous rappeler qu'on ne s'adresse pas de cette façon à quelqu'un d'autre, d'autant plus lorsqu'il s'agit d'un inconnu.

At which point, they respond "No, I'm not, you're (being) silly". You become extremely agitated and start making a scene.
Well .. at that point you are both in the wrong. He is wrong because he approached you first, and then called you silly (disrespect toward a stranger). You are in the wrong because a normal, civilized person would attempt to de-escalate that situation, instead of raising a big fuss about it. At the very least, you would have to inquire if the person actually meant to be an asshole, or there is just a misunderstanding.

Ok, so you weren't seeking counsel, you were seeking assurance you're in the right. As it has been said, if you believe you were insulted you raise a ticket and let the CSR decide. Voilà, c'est tout.
