This is my English transcript of the meeting of 7 June. Thanks to Krill for the translations from and to French.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Thank you all for coming to this meeting.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: We will start with the usual reports. Since Daomei is not here yet, Kaean, will you start is a report of activities in the Witherings?
Kaean: There is not much to report this time. The Zorai event planned that was planned has been postponed and I have noticed no change in the kitin threat since our last meeting.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Mmm... I had understood that the Zorai had made a foray into the Hidden Source in an attempt to take a Marauder prisoner.
Kaean: Oh, I must have missed that, I only knew of the one event that got rescheduled =/ I will look into that more.
Teeneemai: Although I would not be party to that exploit, I believe it took place
Kaean: ((Cliffarson no longer subs so I have lost my second set of eyes, still trying to adjust to this =/))
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Next report, Kiwalie on activities in Aeden Aqueous?
Kiwalie : The Trykers suffered an invasion by mutant goaris!
Kiwalie : Another of their researchers who did stupid things... *laughes*
Kiwalie : We destroyed them, cooked them, burned them, smoked them and... ate them
Kiwalie smiles: I can tell you that goari's tasting really good
Kiwalie : We also destroyed the nest and everything is back to normal
Kiwalie : We even celebrated the 95th birthday of their oldest hawker properly, but I forgot his name
Krill: Padger....
Kiwalie : Ha yes! Padger! *reddens*
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: 95 years. How time flys.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: I do not see either Daomei, nor Zorroargh. I hope that they are well.
Teeneemai: It is unusual for them not to attend.
Kiwalie : (On Tuesdays, Zo arrives late)
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: ((OOC: I was hoping that the reports would give Peatpom a chance to show. Do we know how long she will be delayed? ))
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: We shall continue without Peatpom or the others, and let them catch up when they arrive.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Does anyone have anything to say about the planned cooperation with SKA in studying the kitins.
Jyrvie raises her hand
Kiwalie : (Daomei is on her way)
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Jyrvie?
Jyrvie : Peatpom gave me a message to summarise her thoughts.
Jyrvie : It's an answer from Zendae, I can read it to you
Jyrvie : Peatpom proposed three methods of study, at Zendae's request
Jyrvie : 1/ Statistical study, based on direct and repeated several times observations, to reduce the errors
Jyrvie : 2/ Comparison study: killing a kitin and making a note of the required damages while mesuring the needed time for the kill. Then killing another kitin of the same kind and level but with a decreased pace for the attacks in order to let the creature heal
Elduril whispers: Yes, hitting it hard and regularly to tenderise it
Jyrvie : Zendae commented both methods and found the second one really intersting, and she had a third idea, and that is to attack and find the pace at which the kitin's health is stagnating
Jyvrie : For now those are only preliminary thoughts, but we're progressing. And I'm giving back the floor
Bitttymacod raises his hand.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Thank you.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Bittty? You had something to say?
Bitttymacod: Yes, I did. I received a copy of a message from Zendae (thanks to Kiwa, I think, for the translation to my dialect). It mentioned the study of the kitin regeneration rates, but did not specify methods.
It strikes me that the last method mentioned, trying to attack slowly enough to have it's health be constant, represents a significant extra risk to the homins doing it. I would not be in favor of that method, but I do think that the overall idea is fascinating.
Bitttymacod: That's it.
Elduril raises her hand: I can do it
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: I can see a problem with that method also, not related to the danger to the experimenters. Can anyone suggest to me what it might be?
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Teeneemai?
Teeneemai: It is assuming that the strong and weak kitin of one specific type, all have the same paraameters?
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: No, that's not it because you could measure each of them and see if they did.
Teeneemai: I will leave the strongest to someone else I think :-P
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: I had not imagined that anyone would attempt to do these measurements alone.
Jyrvie : No, it's a team work!
Krill: The kitin will learn as much from us than we do from it?
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Krill, that is an interesting thought, but if we kill each test subject at the end, it will not matter what it has learned.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Anyone else?
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: It seems to me that the problem is that it is difficult to tell accurately what the health of a kitin is.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: So, how could we see if the health was recovering at the same rate as we were inflicting damage? We know how much we damage it.
Elduril : Just tear a leg from it and give it back *laughes*
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Daomei?
Daomei: That was what I thought, inflicting one damage, break off fight then wait for full recovery of the victim. There will be a margin of error of course, but within limits. Many kitins roam along waterholes and lakes
Jyrvie : This, is the first method
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: This sounds like an interesting proposal, and one that is feasible as well. I leave it up to you all to work at making it happen.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: For now, let us return to Daomei and her observation report on the Burning Desert
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Daomei?
Daomei: Ok, my apologies for arriving late, first.
Daomei: Politically, there has not been much new in the desert. The kitins stayed calm as well. There was some progress with the well project in the Outback. Two Tryker engineers from the FISHES organization were escorted to Zora with materials for water filtration.
Daomei: During the trek there was some ,, discussion with a group of marauders about the passage from Trench of Trials to Grove of Umbra. The dispute could be settled (not completely peacefully ..) Hopefully the well will be operational soon.
Daomei: That is all
Daomei: ((thanks for the maros for excellent RP. They cared much not to disrupt the event and presented a good fight))
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Thank you.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: And thank you. Jyrvie for relaying Peatpom's report.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Now I have something I need to announce.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: I will be taking a leave for the next Year of Jena, traveling and renewing my spirit and skills. I will be in lands where the Izams can reach me if needed, and I look forward to reading news of the Kitin Studies as they progress over the next Jena Year.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: ((OOC: I will be taking a two month long trip in real life.))
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: ((OOC: Please use the RP Forums to report on the Kitin studies, and please get together to do them.))
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: ((OOC: I will also be working via email with the Event/Lore/ and Level Design teams to build the Ranger Rite.))
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: ((OOC: I had hoped to have that done by now, but other matters (Steam) were more difficult and took longer than expected.))
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: ((We return now to regular role-play, but I needed to let you know.))
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Is there anything that anyone else wants to bring to the attention of this meeting?
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Bittty?
Bitttymacod: I know this is very old business, but has there been any word from Wilk Potskin?
Krill whispers: Or from Daeronn Cegrips? Well... No, I hope there's no word from Daeronn...
Kiwalie raises her hand
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: I'm afraid that I have to tell you that his name is now recorded on the books as Missing, presumed dead.
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Kiwalie?
Kiwalie : I wanted to welcome the numerous refugees who joined us on our lands, and assure them they will get our help
Kiwalie can feel tears in her eyes...
Kiwalie : Wilk? ... Dead... no...
Kiwalie catches her breath once
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: Kiwalie brings up a good point. In addition to studying the Kitins, we should definitely practice hospitality to tne new arrivals.
Kiwalie : Wuaoi, depsite my sorrow for Wilk, I'm happy to announce the arrival of lots of Ranger Aspirants
Kiwalie : I propose that we all have some beer from the barrel with a thought for Wilk
Kiwalie shouts : A Wilk !
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: That sounds to me like a move to adjourn. The meeting is ended.
Shaliss takes some beer from the barrel and cheers to Wilk's memory. Craftjenn helps Kiwalie
Kiwalie : Wilk lives!
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: To Wilk, a good friend, companion and Ranger.
Kaissia : Farewell Ranger companion
Wuaoi Yai-Zhio: ((OOC: The next meeting will be towards the end of August.))
