This is certainly something that I would love to see, but there are many things that would need working on before it would really be a good idea to play Ryzom in VR.
besides the technical problems, there are design problems that would need to be overcome.
Playing in First Person view would likely be sickness inducing for many, and the UI is really not built for use without a keyboard and mouse - or even use in VR.
You'd have to ask Kaetemi if he plans on trying to add support for the 1.0 SDK when it is released.
As for google cardboard, a simple side-by-side 3D, and free-track support for camera movement would suffice, but things are never so simple, and would really be a waste of dev time vs other things.
