Yea, I agree with you guys. I don't think raising the level cap is a good idea, the way to go is adding new content.
However, I think folks are missing an important point here. That's exactly what the devs just did with the occupations. =P
There was an announcement that they intended to raise the level cap in 2010 and players criticized that decision a lot - rightly so in my opinion (at least they did in Arispotle, not sure about the other shards).
And then we're halfway through 2010 and the major patch we got was exactly what players asked for, new content and not an increase in the lvl cap. And hey, I happen to really like the new occupations! And after the last patch practically all bugs were fixed. So I applaud the devs on this one.
Sure, the idea of a lvl cap increase might still be stored somewhere or maybe even being worked on, but what they mentioned for the next patch was a revamp on PvP, nothing about new levels. So it seems like they DID listen to us and gave us new content. Give credit where it's due and all.
As for what _additional_ new content I'd like to see implemented... I'd have to go with revamped player housing. It's the one single thing I think is still missing in Ryzom. At the very least being able to decorate and invite other players into your apartment, but preferably being able to build walk-in social buildings such as bars, shops and the like. Those could be built in housing instances or maybe in the empty space of OPs.
