I want to add a few comments.
1. This is the idea forum. It is absolutely appopriate to suggest whatever idea. Determining the priority of its realization, even if approved, remains with the devs, respectively the developing and designing body formed by Winchgate and Ryzom Forge.
2. Design and creation of new armor is part of the second stage of the original Ryzom Forge roadmap. The first step, creation of objects for apartments, nation and city banners etc., has been successfully accomplished. While to my impression, the emphasis in RF now is bit more on accomplishing tools for a wider base of developers, and new goals evolved such as the "ring 2.0" pocket worlds, I think that this plan has not been abandoned. Therefore armor design proposals are absolutely appropriate.
3. There is a proverb in German that one cannot argue about matters of taste ("über Geschmack kann man nicht streiten"). But even if some are in disagreement about inappropriateness of certain armor parts, they should at least respect that others feel their pleasure and their choices infringed by a one-sided style of certain female armors. The proposal, btw., was to extend the choices, not to ban certain armor skins.
It should be obvious that the proposal is not of highest priority. Yet we have also campaigned e.g. for the introduction of hairdressers and tatooist in the marauder camp though this concerned clearly a minority of the playerhood. For me was important when supporting these proposals that the status quo without this option reduced fun and pleasure for the players concerned.
In fact, I consider the situation a gender discrimination of both females, being more or less urgeed to wear clothing with the emphasis on sex appeal, and males being denied the same - or, under different consideration, granting males the fun of liberal sight of the features of the opposite sex while denying it to females. For females, it is to some extent humiliating not to be taken serious and allowed to wear practical stuff for the tasks to fulfill. I doubt, e.g. that the view of mammal's reproductive features infight will overly impress or divert aggressive amphibians, reptiles, insects, or birds.
Of course, minors will not be traumatized by the armors criticized. I fail to see that they would even by more liberal or no clothing unless having been traumatized and crippled before by inappropriate prudish and cruel education. And, as I mentioned before, Ryzom is neither the only nor the worst game under these considerations. Yet. one of the great features of Ryzom is the variability and the large number of choices to adapt the appearance of the player characters. And I understand the proposal as a step of extending and enriching these possibilities.
Therefore I do not fully understand the polemics. In the course of development of RF there will be opportunities to design and create new armors, and such is already underway. Of course, no important developments should or will be delayed therefrom. Those who e.g. are now designing the new armor for lady Ailan, will most probably not be immediately stopping to think about armor design after accomplishing that task.
