Most of my dappers come from occupations. A Grade 2 water carrier, florist, toolmaker, or mapmaker can make 36 items a day, which is also the maximum one can turn in to NH. At 36 items a day, one will quickly hit max fame in all four races.
For those who are racially neutral, that means 50 fame in all races, free New Horizons in all four lands, and an income of 180,000 dappers and 1,800 Faction Points a day. For those that are citizens, you will have 100 Fame in that one civilization, which increases the payout to 360,000 dappers and 7,200 Faction Points a day. The dappers are pretty good, and the Faction points are nice in that they can be used to get things like Sap Crystals and XP Catalyzers, which an industrous homin can turn into additional revenue.
As for crafting, there are some Craft missions that are quite lucrative. I started in Fairhaven making small pilles of q17 2h swords for a quick ~20k. As my levels rose, I found more profitable missions. For instance, Dyron has a nice ~227k payout for 7 q160 HA vests. Most crafting missions have modest payouts, but there are a few out there that are great cash cows.
Also, guilds can a great source of gear, which will save you a few dappers. But even friends outside your guild may be willing to help. While few tolerate beggars, sometimes asking nicely works.

Do not assume that you speak for all just because you are the loudest voice; there are many who disagree that simply have no desire to waste words on you.
