hmm, let's look at the "check list"
video card drivers - check (up to date)
display drivers - ? (not sure how it could be an issue, but better safe then sorry)
ryzom install properly patched.
display settings:
hardware or software enabled? have you tried both settings?
these can be set both in game (not possible if you can't see things clearly) and out of game: in the ryzom install folder you will find "ryzom_configuration_rd.exe" which will allow you to change some display settings out of game (like hardware / software)
for a more advanced user you can edit the client.cfg file directly. (not something i would advise unless your sure what your doing, but worst case you can always delete this file and let the game apply the default settings when it re-creates the file.)
i hope that one of these will help you, and if not, get back in touch with us again, i'll do what i can to try to help, but i've not had this issue myself, so i'm not sure how much help i'll be in the end.

Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.
