Zahra, I don't think Kara can be called the "losing" side, not anymore. Kamis haven't won a single time in supernodes season change for months now, and the Maravan alliance was able to retake 3 very important 250 OPs (including one in Kami land). I don't mind losing as a Kami, and I think the pvp balance adds challenge and fun to the game. However you can't say it's a matter of the "losing" side needing every advantage it can. Because it's not about that anymore.
Campfires were not designed as an OP instrument. In real life, campfires are not used as barricades by armies. They are a RP tool. An army could simply march over dozens of campfires. But in Ryzom, a game with a collision mechanism, you have to go around the campfire or kill it, risk misclicks, etc. It detracts from the RP experience and it's not realistic.
Sure, both Kamis and Karas could start using campfires in certain OPs for defense and all that. Could become a common tactic. But I'm rather glad with this decision to remove them from OPs, because that's not their intended RP use (again, in real life a campfire cannot be used as a barricade) and it's just an exploit of the collision system breaking the immersion of many players because it feels so "artificial". Mektoubs have been around forever because of launcher users who carry their ammo in them and end up using them to block healers as well. I've always been in favor of being able to kill mektoubs in OPs, but that's another matter. At least they have a place there, a RP reason.
