Arfur -- If you come to The Loria Ponds area I can show you a reduced Kami Tolerance bar pretty much every day. Kami Tolerance sensitivity to digging has never been missing. The Old Forums mentioned in the original post are from back when Nevrax still ran the game. As I stated earlier, it has not been changed as far as I can tell since I started in November 2006 (that's when I started playing).
I did not mean to imply that the sensitivity is different in different regions, but that in a particular region (or sub-region like Lost Valley) there are smaller areas that react to digging. The whole Valley doesn't react as one area.
Mjollren - In the same area mentioned above I regularly get nodes with 27 mats per node (most in the 16-22 range) even when I am digging a two full bags of wood or resin on a regular basis. On the other hand I have seen specific areas of the multi-source fields where all node have low numbers of mats. I have seen no particular correlation between heavy digging and number of mats per node except when the specific area is nearing depletion and even then the correlation is not rigorous. What I do see is a correlation between heavy digging and the number of nodes that can be popped before depletion of a specific sub-area of a field. However, the recovery time for that pattern is on the order of a few minutes or less in my observations.
((The above is based on my digging pattern. Solo digging, choice materials, one-step plus source kill for each node, moving from sub-field to sub-field in a cyclic pattern, approx. yield 1k mats/hr. Your mileage may vary. Use of aggressive stanzas, careplanners, digging parties and the like may change results, usually in the form of reduced values of Kami Tolerance.))
Mjollren -- you still haven't answered my question of *why* you feel the Kami Tolerance should be made more sensitive.
Virg -- Should the same apply to those who hunt and devastate the herds of the animals of Atys? [*grin*]
Digging per se does not harm Atys. If one is careful, uses gentle stanzas, and digs only what the ground will yield, the Kamis will not even notice. If a group of people dig rapidly using harmful stanzas, that is when they are harming Atys.
