My impression is that you don't understand. Ok, I can log out anytime here, start in any new world, and become part of its history.
That is indeed what you demand. I have to forget what I did in two extremely active RL years, trim it down to some artificial storyline, and believe that that was what I have done.
What is the difference to just logging out and start in another game? What does link me to what has happened here during the years before the merge?
What was unique to Ryzom as I entered it in the 6th year of its existance was that the history of all players having been there before was carved into the history of the living planet in the one or the other way, some visibly with their names inscribed in steles, some not that visibly as they had taken part in the course of events in the one or other way, as guild founders, leaders, officers, or just members, as akenak, taliari, members of the circles, nobles, vassals, or marauders, whatever.
Sure you can iron that down in some foul compromise. Most of the living history will be gone, then. And much of the confidence into promises that our contributions will be part of the history of Atys.
I shall stop here. The thing is going to be repetitive.
