Future Operating System Compatibility

I started playing Ryzom on Windows XP several years ago. Now I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I believe Ryzom was definitely written to be an XP application.

In Windows 7 I have noticed that I am prompted every time I launch Ryzom to allow it to make changes to my system and I cannot pin it to my Start Menu. I either have to run the shortcut on my desktop or find it in my start menu. I also noticed that logs and screen shots are not written to the Windows User folder, but within the Program Files folder. Does anybody here play Ryzom on a Windows 8 machine? My laptop is a few years old and I would like to upgrade to a new one - which will come with Windows 8. Does Ryzom run ok under Windows 8?

What about the future of our beloved game? Will the client be actively modified to be made compatible with whatever the latest OS's require? Will we need to run an older OS to play? I know that nobody but the owners can answer that...just my mind wondering.
