i love open source, because there are so many ppl working on it all the time, what you just said to me implies that the open source part of ryzom is little more then the ideas forum, by what you said the open source ppl really just perfect ideas to give WG, but does nothing to apply those ideas to the game its self.
I don't think that's totally correct. The open source project is a platform for making non-Ryzom games. I stroll through the ideas forum because there are often good ideas there. Winch Gate does merge our code back (and we merge their code out to the public), but some of the projects implemented are not currently used by them - such as guild-based missions or camera animations (sort of like a simple cut scene that can be scripted into a mission.) These features require content on-top of the code, which Winch Gate has to implement.
Other ideas, such as the project to eliminate LibWWW and replace it with Berkelium, have immediate impact to Ryzom players as when that feature is merged into the Winch Gate code base you will immediately have a fully function web browser in-game. WebIG and API apps will be able to use JavaScript and other HTML5 technologies that Ryzom currently can't use.
It's dependent upon the nature of the feature and the Winch Gate team's desire to produce content around that feature.
