And I agree with Bitty, that an additional channel is making life more difficult instead of helping. With the current amount of traffic on the universe channel I also do not see the need. Announce on universe, and if noone wants to trade, put it up in the forum as well. If it's something for sale put it into a merchant for reselling with the appropriate %-agio. Remember you can retrieve your own items from the merchant and reissue in another place.
I think the game has all the mechanics required for trading. I prefer the mechanics to adhere more to reality of life on atys than perfect convenience for players. With that I mean that I rather like having localized merchants (you don't see stuff for sale in Zora and Pyr at the same time), than being able to see everything everywhere or having a non-Atys related auction hall.
If you want to auction off some stuff, organize a "black market" yourself. Those were always fun events on Leanon, and I can only guess that Ari and Aniro must have had similar community organized markets.
