Personally I like it, because of lots of things already said. I planned on doing some more digging and crafting before the shutdown anyway, so that motivation got a boost.
Generally I very much dislike the fact that if I read in the forums about the economy lot of people argue they suddenly have to do things that they didn't want to do.
The second point is that it seems that individuals try to get through this crunch on their own. But this observation again is based just on forum posts. I'm not in a guild myself (for several reasons, one is rp of the character), so I have not really insight in how much guildies help each other in the new economy versus the old ones.
Maybe you could shed some light onto the question if the teamplay inside and outside of guilds has increased or decreased due to the new economy.
The obvious point here is that as a guildless neutral since there's much less really good material circulating in the economy, there are no more generous gifts (which I don't mind, actually).
So its 3 points to me:
- Personally like the temporary focus on digging and crafting to get through the crunch
- Generally dislike people being forced to craft
- Dislike perceived bigger "everybody for himself" mentality
