PATCHTAG!!! ATYS WIRD DEN GANZEN TAG GESCHLOSSEN SEIN!


Patch für Client, Daten und Server. Ein Neustart des Spieleserver wird am Dienstag, 28. September 2021 durchgeführt, um die folgenden Änderungen, Fehlerbehebungen und Verbesserungen zu implementieren:

Ryzom Datenbank

- Die Datenbank von Ryzom wird auf einen anderen Server migriert. Diese Operation braucht Zeit weshalb dieser Patch so ungewöhnlich lange braucht (möglicherweise den ganzen Tag).

Berufe im Kitinnest

- Die 4 Berufe, welche Missionen im Kitinnest erfordern (Larvenmeister, Mediziner, Schlachter und Schriftrollenmacher) werden ins Kitinnest verschoben.
- Zusätzliche Icons auf der Karte zeigen die Standorte der NSCs an.

Marodeurs-Mini-Camps

- Drei weitere Marodeur-Minicamps werden eingeführt und beenden damit die Serie von 4 geplanten. Es gibt nun in dem Gebiet jeder Nation ein solches Minicamp.
- In den Regionen mit Minicamp wird der Zinuakeen in das Camp verlegt.
- Alle Minicamps erhalten Ställe und Missionsgeber.
- Auf der Karte werden Symbole hinzugefügt, die die Lage der Minicamps anzeigen.

Boss-Neugestaltung

- Die zweite Phase der Neugestaltung der Bosse beginnt. Das neue Boss-System wird in den Urwurzeln eingeführt und im Nexus wird die normale Respawn-Zeit der Bosse aktiviert
Im nächsten Schritt wird das System dann auf ganz Atys eingeführt werden.

- The database of Ryzom will be moved to another server. This operation will take some time, thus the patch will have an unusually long duration (potentially taking all day).

Is it possible to have the technical reasons why this operation requires so much time please?

In a classic situation, it would be possible to use MariaDB's standard replication to populate the new server while the old one is still in use, then close the old server and set the new one as the main one. Such process would greatly reduce downtime.

Because I cannot imagine a situation where this suggested process cannot work, I'm really curious about why this isn't possible on Ryzom.

Because they don't use the automation tools that were originally built for Ryzom. They're configuring everything manually, and through hardcoded scripts.

Moving the game data is just moving a folder from the old Backup Service server to the new one. (Although, it's easier to just keep the BS on a separate cloud VM, it doesn't need to be on the dedicated game server box. That way you can just discard the dedi anytime.)

No idea about their proprietary web apps.

Last time I transfered my 5 shards to a new server it took about an hour tops.

I imagine some testing is involved as well as bandwidth limitations during replication? Are you all moving to aws or azure by chance? Or am I asking a stupid question that has been answered a hundred times already?

Here are some news: the database has been migrated as planned, which was to allow us to update the web server with less impact on the game.
But during the maintenance reboot of this web server, OVH alerted us of a critical flaw on the RAID disks and that an intervention was to be expected.

Not wanting this intervention, which could only be done tomorrow and would have taken at minimum 2 days, to block the game even more, we decided to rent a new server and to move the data there.

This is now done but there are still many checks to be done before reopening the game server.
That's why Atys will only be reopened tonight or tomorrow morning (European time zone).

The Webig seems to be pretty much working. We checked the teleportation for Rangers and Marauders and it works.
The Wheel of Fortune has a problem, it only gives XL tokens as a reward (for a basic token bet). But this is not a block to reopening Aty as we can activate it later.
The Storyline missions and the daily missions have not been tested yet.
The Ryzom API backup is corrupted but this is not very important since it is just a cache and can be regenerated.
We should be able to open Atys on Wednesday (today), then fix the last problems one by one.
