Remettre les tag's de Roleplay à l'ancienne.
Autoriser l’accès au canal de faction qu'aux personnes activant le flag "roleplay faction", oui comme à l’époque.

Ce qui veut tout simplement dire, tu choisi un camp guerrier, tu le vit et t'assume.

Yes, if you choose a warrior faction, it should have a consequence.
Otherwise you stay away from the heat, and stay neutral (or out of the kitchen).

You choose a warrior faction, get the upside of it (mats, easy leveling, help and support, ..); but also the down side (its in war.. you are not safe).
Like @Moniq said a few time already... People tend to want easy thing for free, and without effort... yes.. it kill the game.

So all karavan's or kami's or mara's, get the tag roleplay ON or no faction channel available.

Its simple and would revive the server and roleplay for sure.
People would learn ethic, to handle their own rules and trust their handmade stories and faction, and lot of actions can also happen.

A minority will cry a few months, we will see only them so we will think the whole server do not like it.
Which will be wrong.

Unfortunately we notice too much the few people who cry, and it doesn't mean it is a majority.

Life will continue again like nothing happened, and Ryzom will return to something that make sense.

So in big, what I(we?) want for this year on Ryzom, is the game to have the balls to do important turn for once.
And not back up each years from its original (and loved) design.

One thing I thought of lastnight as I lay sleeping or trying to...
Atys is a PLANET. How on Atys can the entire planet have the same seasonal effects and weather?

I think a revamp to the seasons would be sweet, A relook at the map and determine what is northern and southern hemisphere. Winter north, summer south etc...

Also randomize weather on a per map/area basis. Tho I think that would need some serious work as the map and inscene doesn't update properly yet.

Then base everything in a particular area to it's area season/weather.

If winter make things slower/harder to do but less hp/stam/focus cost.
Summer make things a tad more "comfortable" to do, but cost more hp/stam/focus as one wears out in the heat easy.

@Sarpedonia Not to go off topic, but a lot of evidence indicates that Atys is not a planet. But your idea for more seasonal mechanics is still valid, especially if the seasons are all aritifical.

I don't think that the Faction channels really get used much. I know Karavan didn't for the years I followed Jena, and the Ranger channel is mostly "KwwKww" or "Woren Siloy!" with practically no conversation. So losing access to those channels is not as big a downside to the majority as you might think.

As for "incentivizing" catering to your desire to turn back time with mats and easy leveling, maybe it'll get people to halfheartedly join a faction yet still not play the way you want, maybe it'd get the majority of the server who is not like you to leave, but I see no way that it would actually accomplish the goals you want while still leaving enough subscribers to keep the server up. I don't know how things are where you are from, but around here there's a lot of resistance to that sort of thing.

Simply put, if the devs cannot make homins realize, over 6 RL years post-Merge, that Atys is not Aniro, then there is nothing they can do to make everyone else play the way they did on Aniro. Your carrot-and-stick approach to basically try and force the Aniro playstyle on those from other cultures will lead to nothing good. Adapt or don't, but you cannot go back to the past.

I respect what you are trying to do, but I think you are going about it the wrong way and question whether it's possible at all.

I have more sups than I have time to do with, could sell but dappers worthless. End game is sitting at stables chatting while F2P because like others said, KP are not even a challenge. You could make them random to spice it up even. Too many mats for sure and bosses are just too easy to camp even if they are "random"
The only other things I could think about I listed, they are dynamic and probably not easy to do so I'll hang out at the stables.
Bring back the challenge, maybe add some other incentives to outposts that I can't really think of atm lol..region control?

Put some secret salt server side on weather generation so diggers won't know in advance using bm or other programs of their own when suprem is going to pop. So you'll have more challenge, less sup in your guild, and a game more fair.

Issue with sups is not that they are predictable. Its that you get them in one big lump and then nothing until next pop, ie. login, do the thing, and you can stay logout for X hours again.

Your continued focus on changes to encourage / cajole / force people into hardcore Faction RP and PvP reflect a viewpoint or culture. It was only strongly represented on one of the three servers that merged, and that is Aniro.

I can only speak from my experience on Arispotle, but on that server, a substantial fraction of the players seemed to continually and actively frustrate all attempts by the devs to encourage Factionalism and PvP through events. It's not that there wasn't RolePlay and a certain amount of factionalism -- there was -- but it focused elsewhere. That was the culture of Arispotle.

I cannot speak to the culture of Leanon, but I understand that it was similar to that of Arispotle.

Gidget is using "culture of xx server" as a shorthand.

I don't know if you were a player on Aniro or not, nor is it relevant, but you are pushing for penalties (loss of faction chat, etc.) for not going the PvP roleplay route. Those of us who are not into PvP or conflict will resist that. That is all.

The New Lands are only a small patch on the surface of Atys. from the southernmost point of Enchanted Isles to the northernmost point of the Grove of Confusion is only 30 kilometers. The east to west distance is only about 15 km. Given such a small patch of Atys, it is perfectly reasonable to have the weather be very similar over the entire area.

(I calculated a True Map of Atys many years ago and discovered distances. https://forums.ryzom.com/showthread.php?t=34855 I also discovered that the Lakes appear to be on the equator, or at least the "sun" is due east of them.)

Given the fact that the ecosystems are so different, however, it may very well be the case that there are microclimates which, while following the same general changes, could show variations. (e.g. at any one time there might be thunderstorms in the Lakes and Desert, but showers in southern Forest and Cloudy in northern Forest and Jungle.)

It would probably be a total bitch to program, though.

I thought that the weather parameter and the in scene had finally gotten synchronized (they seem that way to me). Is it broken again?

D'après la discussion qu'on avait eu sur le canal lore, les distance indiquées en jeu ne sont pas exactes. Il faut compter en jour de marche. Par exemple, s'il te faut un jour ingame pour aller d'un point A à un point B, alors ça fait une sacré distance si on le rapporte à ce que cela demanderait IRL un jour complet de marche.

Relying on translator is bad way since it makes you sound brainless, should the translator even translate what you are meaning to say the way you mean it. Also it kinda means you should have ability to use right flag while sending, which clearly is too hard for someones.

But interesting point, if there is such a tiny space that the habitants of Atys cover, it is odd to have such vastly different tiny ecosystems. If I follow my weather knowledge, such a dramatic climate between 2 lands such as Desert and any moist area, should produce massive storms almost constantly. But it does explain seasons being the same for the most part.

But yes, inscene and map do not update to season, however to weather I think it does. I can log into winter and leave my machne running 24/7 (which I normally do) and then on one character TP out to sell (damn wandering hawkers) and TP back. I'll have winter on one, and summer on another screen and stand side by side.
