I have noticed that certain marauders like to sit just beyond the guard perimeter in Fairhaven and attack diggers returning from PR who have not let the pvp clock lapse. While I applaud them for finding a loophole that lets them sit lazily and attack unsuspecting diggers who cannot retaliate, I think that this situation is both unrealistic and unfair. I would like to propose that these attacks can only occur when the marauder in question is pvp tagged, allowing for retaliation. Also, it is absurd that city guards would let a known bandit sit right next to the city stables. Either the perimeter for which guards become aware of marauders' presence should be extended at least to their line of sight, or tryker citizens should be able to draw their attention to such shady characters.

Have you tried reporting your inability to attack back as a bug?

#3 Report | Quote[en]

Well, in all honesty, I am not sure if I could have attacked back at that moment, since I was on my alt and not paying attention to my main. However, my alt was also attacked and survived by using invul, by the time the pvp clock (approx. 30 secs) had lapsed the marauder in question was no longer pvp. This is gaming the system, not rping. There is no reason a marauder should be able to camp out by a city without either the guards or the citizens being able to attack.

Is this your great idea for improving Ryzom?
Sorry just very curious.

Poor and weak Homin....

For your personnal knowledge, i'm always PvP tagged. Was not tagged PR, ofc, but still, you can change your gear, put your PvP flag on ( in case you dunno how to do, clic on the green sword next to your name info )

Also, i did kill guards who where doing patrol around the stable, i guess that's probably why i do stand here... But... Well... I can't blame you for talking about things you don't know... It's a thing that happen way so much over here.

About the RP... Tell me more about it... I'm wondering about your knowledge of RP ?

And, btw, i did used an emote to inform you you're gonna die, but.. i guess, once again, you were too busy running with your alt to save his poor life to pay attention about it.

Anyway, you better improve your personal knowledge before crying like a child on Forum because you get killed.

XoXo

Since you were in a non PvP area, whoever attacked you (by inference it was Mithian) had to have been tagged because even if you are tagged he has to be tagged in order to attack you. If that was not the case, then it is a bug, but I have my doubts. (Not to mention that he said he was tagged.)

If you are using the teleport (either Kami or Kara) you can wait in the protected area until your PvP timer runs out and be perfectly safe. If you are using the Kami tp and don't bother, your attacker does not even have to be within the boundaries to attack you. (And he/she could be well out of line-of-sight of the guards as well.)

I happen to agree with you that it's a cheap shot. Any attack on a digger is a cheap shot. However, it's within the rules.

Do you remember our previous discussion about cultural differences? If you ever watched Babylon 5 and paid enough attention to realize how the Earth-Minbari war nearly caused the extinction of humanity, maybe you'd realize how your actions may be perceived as less RP and more sociopathic exploit. The sort of thing that reinforces enough negative stereotypes that it causes far more problems than just those pertaining to potential exploits.

Which exploit ?

You go out from PvP zone and there is a small timers that's allow people to attack you (30 seconds or something) means you are still PvP flag... I don't see any exploit by attacking people who are PvP flags. And if the guy is only focusing its alt, its is own concerns ( and let's ban all the alt ! )

#13 Report | Quote[en]

so you ignoring the mechanics of the PVP timer is the reason why you complain :P ?

yep, you surely are 3 fries short on a happy meal :)

#14 Report | Quote[en]

Ok, ok, I admit i dont understand how pvp works. I guess I couldnt attack because I was the one who was not tagged as pvp, rather than Mithian. Probably the pvp clock had expired by the time I decided to attack. Still, I do think that a tryker citizen should be able to rally the guards to attack if a bandit is sitting outside the city gates. That was my suggestion for the game. It is unrealistic in terms of rp that city guards would just go about their daily business when one of their citizens is murdered in front of them.

#15 Report | Quote[en]

Well, patrols (cities guards) are already attacking marauders automatically (because of our fame being lower than -50 everywhere). As Mithian explained, he was standing there because he killed the guards beforehand and since there is a small cooldown for the guards to re-pop.
But guards have an attack range, if you stay outside from their let say aggro-range, nothing will happen (it's the mechanics as with regulars mobs).

edit: Having the guards attacking players with wrong fame was a request coming from both side (marauders AND non-marauders players). Personally I hope the next step will be making federals guards in region attacking players as well.
