@Daomei , Yes players can do whatever they want, if they don't want to respect RP it's their choice and they can do it... no issue with that... but the game is based on a history and official events ( don't count Christmas event please and others like that, they are not RP and not taking part of the Atys story ).

If I understood, their is people claiming that there is a conflict between NPC hunt and events calendar? How the hell those events can even be connected?
Those NPC hunts are fucked up from the beginning... the reasons for them to exist is farming and oh wait farming again.

But don't fool us Daomei everyone knows the RP you are playing, being friend with everyone no ennemies and blablablabla... (it's your choice, I'm good with that) but don't blame people who doesn't understand how ennemies can help each others for farming... or maybe if this is considered as HRP (my opinion is : yes it should be considered as this) then it's OK to have them as they are.

So BIG +1 to Zagh

Can we stop talking about this ? It's been (almost) 5 years now and it's obvious no one on either side will change his mind on the subject ; the only things these complaints achieve is spamming the forum ...

Agreed; this discussion is rather pointless. My opinion is immutable, and non-negotiable, and I doubt I'm the only one.

Unless we get someone to run hunts when those of us who do not have a job that allows the luxury of joining a hunt during a movable lunch break, I think mention of these hunts is also spam.

Just use a mailing list and let those who can't attend 90% of these hunts live a spam-free life!

Those NPC hunts are fucked up from the beginning... the

Scheduling Conflict (Definition): Two popular events being scheduled at same time such that persons interested in attending both can not do so.

Why go ? Of course, the reason one does anything else ... to get the rewards. But more so to participate in a server wide event with friends from all factions without petty bickering, trash talking, and profanity.

Ya can please some of the people some of the time ... the subject was started because it was stated that no information was available and that repeated reminders were warranted .... and now that the subject is broached, we have others objecting to hearing about it. Spam ? isn't that defined as the same stuff being sent over and over again ad nauseum ? Well where is it ? If it was so easy to find, why was there a request to make the info available ?

Be advised, to play the game, there is no requirement for a player to click on every forum posts or even participate in the forum. It's a public place not subject to content review as long as its within the site rules. When I see a thread about an OP battle or make believe RP structure of government stuff that I have no interest in, I simply don't click on them. You elected to enter the thread it wasn't sent to your inbox. You don't want to see people drinking, don't walk into a bar, cause that's why all the other people went there. You don't want to hear a subject discussed, don't go out of your way to find and go into the room where it's being discussed.

What's next ? ... I can't go to baseball games because they occur during working hours and they are longer than my lunch hour... so lets ban newspaper sports pages where the games and schedules are being discussed and ban espn web site for same reason. As I drive down the road, I'm tired of seeing churches putting date and time of there services on their signs. Should we get that stuff off the community web sites cause it's spam ? Wait no, I can go to the community web site I can click on the little league games, I can click on Labor Day Parade, I can click on recycling schedule and any other subject I am interested in. But no one is twisting my arm making me click on the functions of local religious organizations

You don't really need to "Keep up with the Kardashians" ... unless you really really want to.

I came to this thread thinking that it was a general discussion about the NPC hunts, including opinions and observations; not just the single topic of "Should they be on the event schedule?". My apologies for thinking that this was a broader discussion about NPC hunts than that single question, and for having strong opinions about the way NPC hunts are currently run. And it seems that that mistake has angered you the same way NPC hunts being effectively EU-only gets to me.

Hopefully some day there will be an actual, broad-ranging discussion about NPC hunts that includes scheduling issues and possible improvements. Maybe one that addresses how to make NPC hunts relevant enough to non-EU players to warrant going on the calendar. And hopefully someone else will share my views as I will probably avoid that discussion for fear of making the same mistake I made here and irking someone I think of as a friend.

I'll show myself out now. Good day.

I came to this thread thinking that it was a general discussion about the NPC hunts, including opinions and observations; not just the single topic of "Should they be on the event schedule?".

First off, I am by no mean angry.   I would welcome any constructive discussion on how to make the hunts accessible to more players.  But that's got to go beyond what we have talked about so far and include ideas on how access might be improved.  It is important to note that the weekend hunts have been rather sparsely attended as well.

As to the original purpose of "**this thread**, no it certainly was not intended to be a general discussion.  It was about getting the scheduling information out to players and was in direct response to a player inquiry who indicated that the info was not available.  I suggested that it be listed as a single line on the calendar page and then provided the information related thereto so that any announcement could be linked to it.

After the topic was side tracked, the information was removed from the 1st post here and placed in a new thread.  I didn't want the schedule and related informationto be lost in a sea of side discussions.  And precisely because I think your concerns are valid, I renamed the thread so there would be a place to have those very discussions.

Understand that my last post commented **solely** on the reference to the topic as '"spam".  I was not intending in any way to limit discussion.  Two opposing views expressed by two players:

"Hey I wanna read about this somewhere, please provide"

"Hey, I can't participate, so I don't want any of this information posted ever".

All I am saying that when a player requests information and it is subsequently provided, the benefit to either side has to be weighed.  If it's not provided, that individual remains berefit of desired information, in other words, at a loss. If it's posted and someone doesn't want to read it, they haven't lost anything and they can choose not to read it.   So no, I am not suggesting the discussion be limited, just objecting to the suggestion that requested info be purposely witheld.

The current timing is certainly less than ideal for myself and more than half our guild members.  I make it work to the greatest extent possible by taking my lunch at 2 pm instead of 1 pm.  Many times that is not possible and I miss it.   If the Crimson Tide is playing on  Saturday, I'm going to miss it.

What time zone are you in ? What time are you suggesting ?  how many folks more folks would this include ?   If it was moved back 3 hours, that would certainly get some more western foks in, EST anyway assuming they don't commute, but what does that do for the eastern Euro folks ?  If we move it back 7 hours to get PST folks home from work, then Europe is sleeping.

But if we are going to make it a time zone thing, it all comes down to numbers.  I welcome a discussion on the topic ... but here we were today on a saturday and numbers were inadequate.  It would be great if the time could be adjusted to accomodate more people.   But it has to be a constructive discussion.

And, as you have argued about game sponsored event scheduling and staff availability being the primary and over riding criteria ...  the person doing all the organizing and record keeping / distribution is doing the hunts when he is available.  So if that logic is valid when applied to official events how would it not also apply to player sponsored events ?

So if there's an idea to be put forth which allows more folks to participate, that's great.  Are there enough folks to run two groups at alternating times ?   I have long thought about other possibilities but all my ideas were losers in the sense that for every one player added more than one player was lost.
