Is there any way to turn down the noise of crickets and other ambient sounds? They are driving me nuts! I mean individually turn them down. I know SFX turns them down but it also turns down everything else :(

sadly enough not and since I spend around 99% of my time at FH stables where there is that one bird that makes the most awefull sound every couple of secconds I don't have any sound on (and ryzom sounds can be nice)

I also turned my sounds off long time ago, cause my ears bleed when I hear the female characters screaming while swinging their daggers.

Yup, would be nice to have volume controls for separate types of sounds. And kipees should be their own category.

There is already a separate sound channel for the music (thank the gods). All other sounds are in the same channel.  What you want would be another channel for the ambient sounds, leaving the 'normal' sounds of nearby mobs in the existing channel.  That way you could turn down the music and ambient sounds and keep the sounds of mobs you are fighting.

Well, if each sound is a sound file, they can be categorized / labeled behind the scenes. You could have separate controls for homin sounds (fight screams, etc), mob sounds, ambient natural sounds (crickets), ambient object sounds (campfires etc) ..

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

as much as i like the sounds, i'm with you all, i play most often without sound on because of the lack of volume control on "background" sounds, but it is what it is and i doubt we'll see any change (i hope i'm proven wrong).

+1 for better sound control in ryzom (more sliders)
