When I choose my character, the game loads right up to the last section of the loading ring and then just hangs. I've re-installed, opened all my ports, did a sys-restore, and cannot figure out for the life of me what happened. It was working fine earlier today and nothing changed, it just stopped loading.

Is it possible that one of the keys_name.xml or onterface_name.icfg has gotten munged?

It is also (unlikely but) possible that the reinstall did not "take".  I hope you get a CSR answer soon.

Well I have no idea how I could tell if those got screwed up, but in my client.log I see some errors and missing file messages and then it just repeats

It looks to me as if it might be looking for a wrong server or something.

Don't know why that would have changed between morning and evening, but I would double-check the lines in the file client.cfg in the main directory:

RootConfigFilename = "client_default.cfg";
StartupHost = "su1.ryzom.com:40916";
StartupPage = "/login/r2_login.php";
InstallStatsUrl = "http://su1.ryzom.com:50000/stats/stats.php";
PatchServer = "http://dl.ryzom.com/patch_live";
InstallWebPage = "http://dl.ryzom.com/installer/";

These are from my client.cfg, which is working.

If those are the same, then I think you should probably write to support@ryzom.com and attach a copy of your client.log.

I'm just going on things that have worked for me, not true diagnostic knowledge.

You could start with telling us on what system you're playing Linux/Mac/Windows

There was an error on Macs with the micro vegetation (dunno if it's been fixed or not)
you can enable//disable it in the client.cfg as well


Regarding the config options mentioned by bitty:

IF any of the lines except
RootConfigFilename = "client_default.cfg";
is missing from the file look them up in the client_default.cfg - if it's wrong there add the fixed line to the client.cfg

anything not found in the client.cfg will be taken from the client_default.cfg
the client_default.cfg might be changed during updates so never change anything in there.

It has been fixed. I used to get that (hanging on the last segment of the loading ring) all the time. Now I always play with Micro vegetation on.

Checked my Client.Cfg, and Client_Default.Cfg, everything looks good. I'm on Win7 Ultimate, and was able to log in just fine again last night although today I am getting stuck again. I think it might just be totally random.

It sounds as if it might be an internet problem.  I think it's time for the email to support with the client.log file attached.  If nothing else they might be able to tell you.

Well I emailed support about a day and a half ago, here's hoping I can get this resolved.
